Monduli
Masai Cultural trip
|
Day 1 :
Depart Arusha at 9.00 am and drive to the Monduli mountains. Visit a
local water project and a Masai boma. Each one plants a small tree, to help
prevent soil erosion. We are invited to have a look inside the typical Masai
huts and learn about day-to-day Masai life.
Typical lunch with the local people, after which we go for a walk in the
Evergreen Rain Forest.We stay for the night in Monduli, with view on
the Masai plains, or drive back to Arusha.
Day 2 :
After breakfast we drive to Monduli Juu, sometimes also referred to
as litte Ngorongoro, a higher altitude plateau with plenty of Masai
bomas. From here we have a great view over the Great Rift Valley and
Ol Doinyo Lengai, the sacred volcano in Masai belief. We visit a local
school, a Christian mission, and we learn a lot about Masai life. In the
late afternoon we drive back to Arusha.
